Hooray! It's Application Launch Day!

Hello, pals!
We're so very excited to announce that today's the day our application for the 2012 Second Storie Market launches. This year applying is easier than ever. Just two quick steps: apply online, and submit your photos for consideration to secondstorie@gmail.com. That's it!

In our sixth year, after six events, we're ready to shake things up a little! You'll notice a few changes to this year's event as you give the application a read. The most significant change this year is our switch to a Saturday only event, with extended hours.

Sunday is typically a slower day, as shoppers are either ready to relax (after the busiest two shopping days of the year) or traveling home. Freeing up Sunday allows all of us to do the same! We hope this makes it easier for those of you traveling greater distances to participate on this busy holiday weekend.

This year we're also adding a Friday evening mixer to kick off the event. We're really looking forward to ringing in the 2012 market with you! More details to come...

For now, head on over and apply! We're looking forward to hearing from you.

Warmly,
Shanna, JoAnn, Cris, and Rachael

happy news

It's time to dust off the cobwebs around here, we have some happy news to share...
After taking a year off to focus on our individual projects, we are beyond thrilled to announce that we are back and busily preparing for our next market! We will have more details to share with you soon. In the meantime, please mark your calendars for November 24th, we'd sure love to see you after so long!

Warmly,
Shanna, JoAnn, Cris and Rachael

With an overflowing heart....

....we say thank you.

Wow. This year's show was a success in so many ways that are impossible to define. Old friends reconnected, new friends made, much laughter and warmth. Even coverage from 3 TV stations! Plus, a lovely article about us over at Hello Craft. Thanks, Claire!

As much as we put into these events, we would be nothing without the steady arms of our friends and volunteers. We'd likely not have our sanity intact if it wasn't for all the help we get each year. Upon walking in the doors, one of the first sights our shoppers get to see is the smiling faces of our friends Jake and Jen. Thank you both for being so incredibly awesome! Setting up the tables, decorations, raffle, and all the million other tiny details, would not have been possible without the help of dedicated volunteers and friends Kirsten Tyler and Caitlin. Thank you so much for your willingness to help in the craziness that is Friday night! To all of you who hung a few posters, talked about us, came out to visit, invited your friends, we thank you. Your help gives us a wider reach.

So much hard work, heart and soul go into pulling this show together every year. But when we walk in the doors on Saturday morning to see the room full of streamers and see our fabulous vendors bustling away with their displays.... well, it just makes it all worth it and then some.

To everyone: our friends, volunteers, family, vendors: thank you from the bottom of our very full hearts. We love you all! Here are some of the best photos we took this year. You can find some more here, here, here, here, here, and here. Did you takes some great photos? Join our Flickr group and share them with us. We'd love to see them!

Thank you!

No time to say much more than thank you. For coming out to support handmade. For making another event warm and friendly. For showing our out-of-town vendors just how great Rochester is!

Pictures and more to come soon!!

Vendor Spotlight: Second Storie

As well as pulling this event together every year, we each sell our own wares as well. We thought we'd introduce ourselves this year. We truly can't wait to say hello to all of you in person!

Shanna Murray
Talk about a banner-year. If 2010 belongs to anyone, it's Shanna. Mentions in countless magazines & blogs. Beautiful & inspiring collaborations. A fruitful & grateful life, brought forth in her work. You simply need to see it for yourself.

Karen Stocks: Infiknit
Infiknit is the brain child of self taught knitter Karen Stocks. Soft & Bold, Strong & Delicate. Karen has the ingenious ability to marry pattern, texture and color into the perfect union that is fresh and inspiring! Did I mention that she creates her own patterns for her line as well? Luxurious and impeccably crafted you do not want to leave without one of her beautiful pieces!

Rachael Hetzel: Pistachio Press
Rachael is a master at combining pattern and color, and when she letterpresses them together, her product is perfectly tactile and artful. Drawing her imagery from her life, it's no surprise that her prints and stationary are full, rich, elegant, and humorous.

Cristina Sasso:Luna Bella
Cris makes the sweetest notebooks and some of them are even made with post-it notes! The size is just perfect to carry in your purse, tuck into a Christmas stocking, or maybe even store in your car when you need to jot something down quickly!

JoAnn McGranahan: Vintage Refashioned
JoAnn brings bits of paper to life. Her collages and embroidered vintage maps give new, delightful purpose to ephemera that may have otherwise been discarded.

Stop in, say hello, and shop for the favorite people on your list. There is truly something for everyone!
