Friday Favorites: Miniature Rhino

Miniature Rhino may be my absolute, favorite shop on Etsy. Embroidery, vintage paper and mini treasures... all of the very best things. That I can imagine, at least! Gosh, even the product photography is stunning.

But it's these stationery sets, in their amazingly simple beauty, that almost take my breath away. Vintage papers, randomly selected and sewn together with one single stitch, all contained in a handmade folder in vintage office-green. I'm actually swooning a little!

For a long time now, I've been quite smitten with these pillows from enhabiten. Austere, almost non-existent color palette, oh-so-delicate embroidery, and the soft, worn-in look of the fabrics, they feel like they've been around for centuries.

Hello and happy October 1st!

I am just loving these sweet little clothes peg dolls from jill bent. Their faces are hand painted, their clothes hand-knit and sewn. Vintage clothes pins in little outfits? I'm not sure it gets any cuter. I love the look of them all together on a bookshelf. Or a sailboat.

Elin Thomas draws her inspiration from the strangest of places: mold. And lichen. Her shop, Elinart is full of crochet & embroidery jewelry that resemble spreading blooms of mold & lichen, and are little pieces of art themselves. The tiniest of stitches and details make them exquisite. And her color palette is just perfect.

I just love how she's asking us to look at something we usually find a bit unsettling and see it in a new light. A very beautiful one.

Back against the wall. Head held as high as possible. Shoulders straight. Standing perfectly still to get every single centimeter because every one counts!

Nothing was more exciting than seeing how much more one had grown since the last little pencil mark. Back then we did it right on the wall or door jam but today's kids are way cooler especially if they are growing to new heights that are being recorded on these most awesome growth charts designed by Yulia of Giraffes and Stuff.

These growth charts are hip and cool and fit an assortment of personalities! If I was still & growing I would want one of these on my wall... C'mon you know you, I mean your child, wants one!

Even though I haven't gone "back to school" in years, and haven't owned a pencil case since I was 8 (it had Strawberry Shortcake on it!) I can't help but feel as though I need one of these. It must be the turning of the weather and the excitement for the arrival of autumn that makes me hark back to my younger years and say: you really do need something to store your pencils and erasers in!

These pencil cases from seaoats are a beautiful combination of bold, screen-printed graphics, richly colored recycled fabrics, and some sweet quilted top-stitching. The images of birds, blowing sea grass, and sailboats almost seem to be a goodbye to summer. I like that.




Now, I just need to find some pencils to put in there.... Or maybe I could just use one as a small purse.

Bold pattern. Gorgeous color. Vintage-y graphics. Inalux's shop is filled to the brim with all of these things. These giclee prints are enough to brighten any room and any one's spirits. And as easily as they would fit into a mod-style kitchen, I think they'd be just as at home in a vintage-inspired nursery.

This week's feature is a long-time favorite of mine. Forestbound's shop is never what you'd call full, but it always has a few amazing offerings tucked inside. Many of the incredible totes, bags and pouches are made from re-purposed WWI and WWII era tents and and laundry bags and so have an army-surplus feel. But because of the craftsmanship, they are so much more refined. How fantastic it must feel to carry a bit of history with you as you head to the market or a picnic with your tote.

Simply loving the look of these vintage-inspired custom bus scrolls by TransitDesign. You send in your list of favorite places and you get a super-cool canvas scroll in the style of vintage destination blinds found in train and bus stations.

What a neat way to commemorate places you've lived or visited. Or you could fill it with places you've never been but have always wanted to. How's that for a bucket-list?
